Writing Challenge Midway Check-In

By | October 13, 2013

We are at about the half way point in the writing challenge that I made for myself for October.  My goal was a minimum of 45 articles by the end of October, and so far I am up to 20, including this one.  (I only set a goal of 45 since I knew I would be working on other things as well.)  Not bad, but I think I can do better, so I am going to pick up the pace.

New Looks / New Themes

I don’t know if you noticed, but after changing the theme in September, I have continued to spend time making subtle changes to the website.  I think it looks a lot better than it did before.  I’m pretty satisfied with it so far.

I also spent some time redesigning BizTechTonics as well, although I am not finished with the one.  I decided to go with the same theme for BizTechTonics as this website for now, but I will probably come up with something better later.  For now I just wanted it presentable.  I didn’t really like the previous theme.  Now it just needs some new content.

Multiple Websites for Different Topics

Instead of putting all my articles and posts in one website, my personal blog, I figured that it would make more sense if I split the content up a bit.  I haven’t really worked out how exactly I want to divide up future content among the website, but I am thinking that BizTechTonics will concentrate on business and technology, while Reinventing Scott will concentrate on personal growth, and this blog will include personal updates, announcements, and random thoughts that don’t seem to fit into any other website.  There will be several other websites, but I am not prepared to announce them yet.  But I will say that some of the new websites will be about building websites and be educational in nature.

The Verdict

I think I am on track to meet my goal by the end of the month, and now that I have some of the design stuff out of the way, I think I should be able to easily exceed my goal.

Wish me luck, and if you have any article ideas, let me know.  I am always looking for ideas.

The Chart

As promised, here is the chart of my progress. Although many days I write only a couple of articles, remember I am working on other things as well.
