Evaluating a Franchise by Working There

If you are evaluating purchasing a frachise, one of the best ways to find out if it is right for you is to secretly work for their company for awhile, preferably at a corporate owned store.  While some investors prefer to not get their hands dirty, there are some advantages to working in the trenches for a bit.

This allows you to evaluate several things, including their system, their company values, and the types of employees and issues you will have to deal with as a franchise owner.  It will also give you a very good idea on how well the lofty company mission statement and vision is being translated into the actual running of the business.  Also, by working there briefly, secretly, you will be able to ask better questions when talking to the corporate office about purchasing your franchise.
